A BRIEF HISTORY ON 1031 FALKLAND ROAD

1031 Falkland was built on what once was a holly farm in the late 19th century. Built in 1912 by William G. Miller for his family shortly after he and his wife arrived from Scotland, the home was believed to be one of finest built homes in the area.
For the past forty-two years, the current owners have embraced the Arts and Crafts Movement honouring the tradition of enduring quality, beauty and “all things well-made,” the hallmark of the Movement. The choice of Wm. Morris fabric and wallpaper, as well as finely crafted Tiffany-style lamps and other period fixtures bear testimony to that principle.

HISTORICAL NOTE

William Morris (1834-1896) Textile designer and self-acclaimed architect spearheaded British Arts and Crafts Movement and had a profound influence on architecture and furnishings of the day. Morris exemplified the movement’s philosophy of enduring craftsman-like workmanship and revival of traditional British textile arts.

“Have nothing in your houses which you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful.”
- Wm. Morris
